An Exchange Earners’ Foreign Currency (EEFC) account is a non-interest-bearing current account that enables foreign exchange earners to retain their earnings in the original foreign currency as per the authorised banks.

This facility, provided to exporters and professionals earning foreign exchange, operates as a standard current account with one crucial distinction: it maintains balances in foreign currency rather than Indian rupees. The account allows businesses to retain 100% of their foreign earnings without the mandatory conversion requirement that typically applies to foreign currency receipts.

The EEFC account framework operates under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (“FEMA”), with specific guidelines issued through Foreign Exchange Management (Foreign Currency Accounts by a Person Resident in India) Regulations, 2015.

एक्सचेंज अर्नर्स फॉरेन करेंसी (EEFC) अकाउंट एक ऐसा नॉन-इंटरेस्ट-बेयरिंग (बिना ब्याज वाला) करंट अकाउंट है जो विदेशी मुद्रा कमाने वालों को अपनी कमाई को अधिकृत बैंकों के नियमों के अनुसार उसी विदेशी मुद्रा में रखने की सुविधा देता है।

विदेशी मुद्रा कमाने वाले एक्सपोर्टर्स और प्रोफेशनल्स को दी जाने वाली यह सुविधा एक स्टैंडर्ड करंट अकाउंट की तरह ही काम करती है, लेकिन इसमें एक अहम अंतर है: इसमें बैलेंस भारतीय रुपये के बजाय विदेशी मुद्रा में रखा जाता है। यह अकाउंट बिज़नेस को अपनी विदेशी कमाई का 100% हिस्सा रखने की सुविधा देता है, जबकि आमतौर पर विदेशी मुद्रा में प्राप्त राशि को अनिवार्य रूप से बदलने (कनवर्ज़न) की शर्त लागू होती है।

EEFC अकाउंट का ढांचा 'फॉरेन एक्सचेंज मैनेजमेंट एक्ट' (FEMA) के तहत काम करता है, और इसके लिए 'फॉरेन एक्सचेंज मैनेजमेंट (भारत में रहने वाले व्यक्ति द्वारा विदेशी मुद्रा खाते) रेगुलेशंस, 2015' के ज़रिए खास गाइडलाइंस जारी की गई हैं।
